I have been in network marketing for 12 years and currently earn over $15,000 per month. I am in the top 0.1% of my company. I want to have an honest conversation. I will answer any question truthfully, even uncomfortable ones. Yes, I know most people do not make money. Yes, I know there are problems in the industry. But I also believe network marketing has changed my life and the lives of many people on my team. Ask me anything - income, lifestyle, challenges, regrets, whatever you want to know.
Thank you for your vulnerability in sharing this. The shame and embarrassment after leaving an MLM is real and not talked about enough. You are not stupid for joining - these companies spend millions on making their opportunity look irresistible. You were targeted by professional marketers.
I think the industry is going through a necessary evolution. Companies that survive will be the ones that shift toward genuine customer acquisition, transparent income disclosures, and products that can compete on merit without the MLM price premium. The old model of recruit-recruit-recruit is dying.
Your story mirrors mine almost exactly. I want you to know that it gets better. I left my MLM 2 years ago and it took about 6 months to stop feeling embarrassed. Now I can talk about it openly and even laugh about some of the ridiculous things I did. Healing takes time but it happens.
My biggest piece of advice - never recruit someone who cannot afford to lose their investment. If a person is living paycheck to paycheck, you are potentially putting them in a worse financial position. Be ethical about who you bring into the business.
