Herbalife Acquires Bioniq's Assets to Enhance Personalized Nutrition
Herbalife Ltd., a global leader in nutrition and weight management products, has announced a strategic agreement to acquire specific assets from Bioniq, a UK-based company specializing in personalized supplements. This acquisition is part of Herbalife's ongoing initiative to broaden its portfolio of personalized nutritional solutions.
Integration with Existing Acquisitions
The addition of Bioniq’s offerings is expected to complement Herbalife’s previous acquisitions of Pro2col and Link BioSciences. With these integrated assets, Herbalife aims to expand its range of personalized supplements and delivery formats, enhancing its ability to meet diverse consumer needs.
Innovative Personalization Technology
Bioniq utilizes a patented product personalization engine, which analyzes individual health data alongside a proprietary database of biomarkers. This technology allows for the creation of tailored supplement solutions addressing a variety of health requirements, from everyday wellness to elite athletic performance.
Support from Cristiano Ronaldo
Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo, a long-time Herbalife global nutrition partner and Bioniq shareholder, has expressed his support for the acquisition. Ronaldo emphasized the importance of personalized nutrition in achieving peak performance:
“Throughout my career, biometrics and personalized nutrition have been central to helping me perform and compete at the highest level... I’m delighted to see Bioniq’s personalized supplements become part of Herbalife’s expanding access to nutritional supplements.”
Transaction Details
The acquisition is projected to close in the second quarter of 2026, with a total purchase price of $55 million, payable over five years. Additionally, there are contingent payments that could increase the total to $95 million based on future performance metrics. Herbalife has also secured a call option to acquire Bioniq LAB, a platform focusing on small molecules and peptides, which could provide strategic advantages in the future.
Looking Ahead
Stephan Gratziani, CEO of Herbalife, stated, “The future of health and wellness is becoming more personalized and informed by data. By combining Bioniq’s personalized supplement technology with Pro2col and the power of our global distributor network, we are expanding our ability to deliver personalized wellness at global scale.”
As a result of this acquisition, Bioniq’s personalized supplements are expected to be available through Herbalife distributors for customers in Europe and the United States later this year. This move underscores Herbalife’s commitment to enhancing its product offerings and meeting the evolving demands of consumers for tailored nutritional options.
