MLM companies heavily target single mothers with messaging about working from home, being there for your kids, and achieving financial freedom. As a single mom who tried MLM, I felt both empowered and exploited. Empowered because the community was supportive and I learned sales skills. Exploited because I spent money I did not have on products and events while being told it was an "investment in my future." When I could not make it work, I was told I just did not try hard enough. Are MLM companies empowering single moms or taking advantage of their desperation?

I have been in network marketing for 10 years across 2 companies. Currently earning about $5,500 per month. Here is the truth nobody tells you - it took me 4 years of consistent daily work before I hit $1,000 per month. Most people quit before reaching that point.
If you are going to do MLM, track EVERY expense from day one. Most people have no idea how much they are actually spending versus earning. Create a spreadsheet with every product purchase, sample, event ticket, gas, and tool subscription. The numbers will tell you the truth.
I completely agree with your points. I joined two different MLM companies and had very similar experiences. The monthly autoship alone cost me over $4,000 before I realized I was basically paying for the right to sell overpriced products.
The math is simple and undeniable. In any MLM, the people who join later are at a structural disadvantage because the market becomes increasingly saturated. This is not a feature bug - it is a fundamental design flaw of multi-level compensation structures.
