I keep getting different numbers when I research MLM success rates. Some people say 99% fail, others say that is misleading because it includes people who just signed up and never tried. What are the real statistics? The income disclosure statements I have seen show that the median annual income for active distributors ranges from $0 to about $2,000 depending on the company. Top 1% earners make hundreds of thousands. Is this any different from traditional business failure rates? Are we comparing apples to oranges?

Let us look at this objectively. The Direct Selling Association reports $40 billion in annual US sales. That is real revenue from real products. The industry employs millions of people. To dismiss the entire model as a scam is intellectually dishonest. The problem is not the model - it is how some companies and distributors abuse it.
I am currently making about $800 per month in my MLM after 18 months. Not life-changing money, but it covers my car payment and gives me extra spending money. I work maybe 8-10 hours per week on it. For me, it is worth it as a side hustle, not a career replacement.

You cannot compare MLM to a traditional job. MLM is entrepreneurship - it carries risk but also unlimited upside potential. If you want guaranteed income, get a 9-to-5. If you want to build something, be prepared to struggle first.
